Wiesbaden leads German motorhome rankings with record growth!

Enthusiasm for camping in Germany continues unabated, data released today shows. In 2025, Germany will record an 8.1 percent increase in mobile home inventory compared to the previous year. This is the result of a comprehensive analysis carried out by Swabian and Goldenstein Lawyers was carried out.

Wiesbaden leads the ranking with a mobile home density of 42.9 mobile homes per 1,000 cars. This high density has increased by an impressive 51.6 percent compared to last year, with car rental companies playing a crucial role in this increase. The number of mobile homes there increased from 6,336 to 9,608.

Freiburg and other cities in focus

Freiburg im Breisgau, which had the highest mobile home density in 2024, has changed its position to second place with now 40 mobile homes per 1,000 cars. Other cities with high densities are Flensburg and Kiel, with 38.7 and 38.1 per 1,000 cars. Konstanz takes fourth place with 29.1 mobile homes per 1,000 cars.

There are also interesting data in the cities of Baden-Württemberg: Freiburg, Konstanz, Tübingen, Reutlingen, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Ulm and Esslingen are among the top 20 cities with the highest density of mobile homes. In contrast, Offenbach and Frankfurt am Main have the lowest density in a national comparison with only 8.2 and 8.6 mobile homes per 1,000 cars.

Growth and trends in Germany

However, the growth of mobile home stocks is not homogeneous. While Wiesbaden recorded a spectacular growth of 51.6 percent, cities such as Augsburg, Hamburg, Mannheim, Mönchengladbach and Munich saw less than 5 percent growth. Mönchengladbach is at 1.76 percent, which is a clear departure from trends in other cities.

In addition to the pure numbers, it is also important to consider the legal challenges. Lawyer Alexander Voigt warns of an emissions scandal, especially for mobile homes based on the Fiat Ducato from 2014 to 2019, which affect over 100,000 vehicles in Germany. This could result in significant loss of value for the affected owners, but a Federal Court ruling has made it clear that they are entitled to compensation.

The love for camping and motorhomes remains unbroken and remains an important topic in the German leisure market. As interest in a flexible form of vacation continues to grow, new developments and legal aspects must not be lost sight of.
