Student trip to England: Adventurous explorations on the coast!

The St. Johann preparatory college's journey to England began after a careful passport check by the teachers. On July 16, 2025, the group set off on the bus with full luggage, which first went to Pforzheim before continuing through France and Luxembourg. After a long day on the road, the tour group reached Belgium, where they stayed for two hours in the port of Dunkirk. Early in the morning at 6am the group boarded the ferry to Dover and arrived at 7am UK time.

In Brighton the group experienced their first highlight with a visit to the Royal Pavilion and had plenty of time for exploring and shopping. The participants were then warmly welcomed by their host families in Eastbourne, which was a welcome change from everyday travel life.

Discoveries in Portsmouth

On Monday we planned to visit the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth. The group explored the impressive exhibits of the Nelson Gallery as well as the historic ship HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum. After an exciting tour of discovery in the museum, the participants enjoyed a boat tour in the harbor and had free time to relax.

On Tuesday the London trip started at 7:15 a.m. The students visited the Tower of London, where the famous Crown Jewels are on display. The program also included a visit to Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, followed by an exploration of Camden Market, where you could experience the vibrant atmosphere of London.

Hike along the Seven Sisters

On Wednesday the group went on a scenic hike along the Seven Sisters cliffs. It was a 12 kilometer hike in sunny weather, with constant impressive views of the white chalk cliffs. Particularly notable was the opportunity to view the cliffs from the water during a high-speed trip on an 8-meter RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) that departed from Brighton Marina to Eastbourne. The boat, sleek and comfortable, provided an exhilarating experience as the experienced captain shared stories about the coast and explained remarkable geological wonders.

The walk ended with a visit to the pier in Eastbourne. The participants returned from this exciting experience exhausted but happy.

Farewell and return journey

On Thursday it was time to say goodbye to the host families as the group set off for Canterbury. There the group was able to enjoy a boat tour and a city tour before returning to the ferry and heading home after a long day. This trip will certainly be remembered for a long time by the participants as they had the opportunity to discover different facets of English culture and nature.
