How to get to Gullfoss waterfall?

Gullfoss Waterfall is a very popular stop on many Golden Circle day trips. It is also one of the largest waterfalls closest to Iceland's capital Reykjavik. There are a few options to get here. I have described the two best ways below.

Rent a car – do-it-yourself travel option

By far the best way to see Iceland is to rent a car and drive yourself. This still applies to those looking for a great day trip from Reykjavik.

Gullfoss Waterfall can be reached in about two hours from Reykjavik. However, it's probably a better idea to take your time and stop at some of the famous Golden Circle locations. You drive through Thingvellir, one of Iceland's best national parks. You can also stop at the Geyser and end the day with a swim in the Secret Lagoon.

Embark on a Golden Circle tour from Reykjavik

You could also have a local show you the highlights of South Iceland. Reykjavik has a variety of tour operators offering day trips to Gullfoss Waterfall and other stops along the Golden Circle.

One of the most reputable travel companies is Icelandic Travel. Your Golden Circle tour stops at key locations in the area. The buses are comfortable and the entire day trip takes about 9.5 hours and will only cost you about $90.
