Interrail adventure: Monique and Nina discover Prague and Berlin!
Monique Totschnig and Nina Oberguggenberger completed their exciting Interrail journey on September 13, 2025. The two travelers, who were supported by the Lienz Kiwanis Club, set out on their adventure on August 8th. Their first stage took them to Lille and Strasbourg, followed by a stopover at home before continuing on to Prague on August 24th.
The arrival in Prague took place late in the evening, with the two young women's explorations for the next day already firmly planned in their minds. Preparations included exchanging money and purchasing postcards and souvenirs to capture the experience.
Prague: An unforgettable stay
A highlight of their Prague experience was the breathtaking sunset at Charles Church and Charles Bridge. They also visited the city’s “Dancing Houses”. On their last day in Prague, they relaxed with a walk in the park before setting off towards Berlin around half past four.
When they arrived in Berlin, they were welcomed by a festival, which further lifted their spirits. Here they enjoyed the famous Berlin Currywurst and then went on an exploration tour that included the Berlin Cathedral, Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz and the TV Tower. In the evening they stopped at the Zoo train station, where they had no unexpected encounters.
An unfortunate situation arose when they mistakenly took the S-Bahn back in the wrong direction. Despite this little mishap, they already booked tickets for the museums they wanted to visit the following day: Madame Tussauds and the DDR Museum. At night they admired the dazzling lighting of the Brandenburg Gate.
Graduation in Berlin and outlook on the future
They had set up a tight program for August 29th, which included a visit to Charlottenburg Palace, Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall Museum and the Kaufhaus des Westens. In the evening we finally took the train to Munich, where they arrived in time for a shopping trip and a walk.
Their last day in Munich was marked by a visit to the German Museum, which they enjoyed with a four-hour stay. Finally, Monique and Nina, who were supported the whole time by the Lienz Kiwanis Club, said goodbye and began their journey home, full of memories of an unforgettable Interrail trip.
