Alfred (66) from Graz missing after trip to the Vatican – information urgently sought!

Alfred G. (66), a resident of Graz, has been missing since May 8, 2025. The retired gentleman's last known location is the Vatican, where he was traveling with a tour group. Alfred visited the pilgrimage destination with the group before deciding to continue alone. Since then there have been no more signs of life from him. The “Austria Finds You” association has already started a search and is asking for information about Alfred’s whereabouts.

It is believed that Alfred may be on his way back to Austria. Possible sightings of him have been reported in the Villach area or on the route to Graz, both on trains and on public buses. The missing Grazer is around 175 to 180 centimeters tall, has brown hair and is carrying his luggage with him. He also suffers from a mood disorder, which increases concerns about his well-being.

Background on missing cases

Alfred's disappearance is reminiscent of other tragic missing person cases, such as that of Deborah "Debbie" Sassen from Düsseldorf, who disappeared after swimming lessons on February 13, 1996 at the age of eight. To date, her personal belongings have not turned up and the Düsseldorf police's largest search operation has yielded no results. Witnesses reported seeing a man in a beige car, but he was never identified.

Another example is the case of Emanuela Orlandi, who disappeared in the Vatican on June 22, 1983. Emanuela was the daughter of one of Pope John Paul II's court servants. Her family lived in the Vatican and there is speculation about possible kidnappings to blackmail the Holy See. The case still raises questions today and the Italian judiciary closed the investigation in 2015, but evidence and documents were again announced for review in January 2023.

In addition, there are various cases of missing children, including Pascal from Burbach, whose fate has remained unclear since he was reported missing in September 2001. Pascal's case is particularly complex because several suspects have been linked to a confession, but there is no conclusive evidence. Despite these challenges, police investigations continue in the hope of finding new leads.

Although Alfred G. may have been seen on his way home or near Villach, it is important to take any information seriously. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts should contact the “Austria Finds You” association immediately. Concerns about missing persons are not only local, but also affect many tragic stories worldwide.
