Algarve, Portugal - On May 15, 2025, the German feature film “Sleeplos in Portugal” celebrates its premiere, a work from 2021 that deals with friendship, infidelity and personal development. The main characters are Livia, played by Ulrike C. Tscharre, and Richard, embodied by Barry Atsma. Together with their neighbors Amira (Melika Foroutan) and Martin (Oliver Mommsen), they have been on vacation in a holiday home on the Algarve for years. But this year the quartet is faced with unexpected challenges.

Amira is professionally prevented and Livia discovers Richard's affair, which leads to a rethink. Instead, Livia and Martin decide to take the trip with the children alone. This decision opens up new possibilities because you can see that you hardly know yourself despite your long -standing friendship. While trying to make the best of your situation, Amira and Richard arrive, which significantly changes the group's dynamics. The film is based on a book by Sathyan Ramesh and was staged by Florian Froschmayer.
