In March 2025, the accommodation industry in Frankfurt am Main recorded a pleasing increase in overnight guests and total overnight stays compared to the same month last year. The number of accommodation establishments in Frankfurt remained constant at 284, while the supply of overnight accommodation fell slightly from 64,585 to 64,356 beds.

The average bed occupancy was 43 percent and the estimated room occupancy was approximately 62 percent. The average length of stay for guests was 1.80 days, indicating robust demand. In terms of international source markets, the USA stands out in particular with 140,410 overnight stays (+ 1.3 percent), while overnight stays from China and Great Britain fell by 5.0 percent.

Frankfurt as a tourism destination

Frankfurt am Main is not only the fifth largest city in Germany, but also an important international financial center and transport hub in Europe. In 2023, the city's accommodation providers recorded around 10.4 million overnight stays, with the majority of guests coming from Germany. A total of 281 accommodation providers are open in Frankfurt, of which 257 are hotels with around 59,950 available beds. The average bed occupancy was 44.3 percent in 2023. Frankfurt is also often referred to as “Mainhattan”, which refers to the impressive high-rise buildings in the city center. Ten large hotel projects are also planned by 2024, including a Steigenberger congress hotel with more than 500 rooms.

The city is known not only for its business opportunities, but also for its rich cultural offerings and recreational opportunities in the surrounding area, such as in the Main-Taunus district.
