Quang Nam increased business connections: Successful forum in Laos!
Quang Nam, Vietnam - A forum for promoting trade, investments and tourism took place from May 23 to 25, 2023 in Laos. Among the more than 400 delegates were representatives of the ministries for culture, sports and tourism as well as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Province of Quang. This event was seen as an important step in the development of the East-West Economic Corridor and the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam 2025 commercial, investment and tourism fair.
The forum was part of the 2025 business diplomacy program and aimed to implement the results of the 47th meeting of the intergovernmental cooperation committee Vietnam-Laos. The delegates exchanged ideas and strategies to improve cooperation in the areas of trade, tourism and investments along the east-west economic corridor.

During the fair,quang named a 24 m² joint stand for the presentation of publications and souvenirs. The commercial, investment and tourism fair attracted numerous companies from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, which presented their local industries and products. This included agricultural products, processed food, clothing, electronics, household appliances, industrial machines, wooden furniture as well as handicrafts and consumer goods.
In addition, a film was shown about important travel destinations and products from Quang Nam. The exhibition also emphasized outstanding OCOP products from Quang Nam, including NGoc Linh-Ginseng, Fisch sauce, eagle wood, pepper, coconut cake and bird's nest. The aim of these presentations was to strengthen the connections between Vietnam and Laos' economies and show new investment potential.
cooperation programs and infrastructure development
Vietnam emphasized the importance of East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) and the developmental triangle of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV). On April 10, Nguyen van Trung, the Vietnamese Consul General in Pakse, commented on a forum for promoting trade, investments and tourism. Representatives of 18 municipalities from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand took part in this forum and presented their potential in the areas of trade, investments and tourism.
The CLV region was launched in 1999 to carry out cooperation programs in border areas. The aim of the CLV initiative is to promote socio-economic development and to combat poverty and improve connectivity. As part of the EWEC initiative that has existed since 1998, there is a 1,450 km long street that leads from Mawlamyine (Myanmar) to Da Nang (Vietnam) and contributes to strengthening the cooperation between these countries.
These multilateral efforts aim to promote commercial, investment and tourism connections between the countries, while at the same time making infrastructure investments in transport, port and logistics connections. Overall, the forum in Laos is evaluated as a significant step to improve the investment environment and to recruit new projects in Quang Nam and beyond.
For companies from Quang Nam, these initiatives offer new opportunities for market expansion to the four southern provinces of Laos.
