Sports festivals for everyone: a new start at the Asian Games in the communities!

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam is implementing the Politburo's instructions to reorganize the political system. With the aim of ensuring the effective implementation of the sports congress at all levels and achieving the set goals, concrete proposals for the merger of administrative units at the provincial and municipal levels were developed. In this context, the ministry asks the provinces and centrally administered cities to advise the heads of the people's committees and adjust the plan for organizing the sports congress. The guidelines call for competitions to be organized at community level in eight or more sports, with the exact number depending on local conditions. Emphasis will be placed on sports included in the Asian Games and Olympic Games competition system, such as athletics, swimming, football, volleyball and basketball. At the same time, popular sports should be promoted, especially traditional sports and folk games that correspond to local traditions.

Variety of sports and organization

At least half of the sports in the upcoming Games must be included in the Asian Games and Olympic Games competition system. This also applies to competitions in remote areas where at least five sports are to be organized. At the provincial and municipal level, the aim is to organize competitions in 18 or more sports. Conducting at least two-thirds of the sports in the Asian Games is an important aspect to consider. Mountain and border provinces are also allowed to offer competitions in 15 or more sports.

All participating units are requested to develop guidelines and plans to efficiently organize sports festivals after mergers of municipalities, districts and provinces. The selection of sports delegations can also be made according to municipal and district groups for the provincial sports festival. The ministry also emphasizes the importance of closely following central government guidelines and instructions to ensure a successful sports festival. The ultimate goal is to discover and select outstanding athletes who can promote high performance sport.

Asian Games as a sporting highlight

The Asian Games, also known as the Asian Games, are major sporting competitions that attract all Asian countries and have an Olympic character.
