The summer of 2025 will be all about travel for many Austrians who are preparing for their well-deserved vacation destinations. According to a study by the holiday home portal Holidu, which is based on internal booking data, the most popular travel destinations for August have clearly emerged. The survey shows that it is primarily Italian and Croatian destinations that attract Austrian travelers.
On the list of top destinations is Lido di Jesolo with an average price of EUR 268 per night, followed by Lignano Sabbiadoro at a price of EUR 233 per night and Poreč at EUR 157 per night. The popularity of these places makes it clear that both sea and sun - i.e. beach stays - are very popular.
Diversity of travel destinations
Italy has a total of 11 destinations in the top 50, while Croatia impresses with 13 destinations. Cheaper options can be found in Rijeka at 126 EUR per night and Belgrade at a staggering 83 EUR per night. The most expensive destination is Barcelona, which costs EUR 392 per night.
However, the guests don't just travel abroad. Popular local destinations include Schladming (246 EUR per night), Mörbisch am See (147 EUR per night), Zell am See (313 EUR per night), Kitzbühel (281 EUR per night) and Maria Alm (224 EUR per night).
The methodological basis for the analysis was based on the search queries on holidu.at for stays between August 13th and 15th, 2025 and a checkout period between August 17th and 18th, 2025. The average price per night for holiday accommodation was also determined.
Creative gift orders and challenges
