State Honorary Award for Bavarian Agriculture: Exemplary training honored!
On May 27, 2025, the state honorary awards for exemplary training in agriculture were awarded in Munich. At a celebratory event in the Residence's All Saints Court Church, Hubert Bittlmayer, head of the department on behalf of Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber, presented the awards to ten outstanding Bavarian agricultural businesses. The State Honorary Prize, which is being awarded for the fifth time this year, recognizes the special commitment of these companies to training young people in agriculture.
The motto of the award is “Promoting, Demanding, Advancing” and the aim is to support future generations of farmers in their training. In total, over 1,300 young people in Bavaria benefit from this training, with a third of the trainees not coming from agricultural families. This indicates a change in the social background of the trainees that has taken place in recent years.
Outstanding achievements in training
In her speech, Minister Kaniber emphasized the high standards that the award winners set in their training. The support of trainees plays a central role, as they are prepared to run an agricultural business independently. The award is therefore not only a recognition, but also a guide for all those who are looking for training in agriculture. This transfer of specialist knowledge, economic thinking as well as social responsibility and respect for nature are essential components of the training.
When selecting the award winners, various criteria were taken into account: commitment of the operations manager, individual support and regular training for trainers and trainees. In addition, additional offers to support trainees should also be important. The next round of applications for the State Honorary Award starts on November 1st, so that interested companies can now prepare.
The State Honorary Award is a joint initiative of the State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, the Association of Agricultural Masters and Instructors in Bavaria and the Association for Agricultural Education in Bavaria. The award is intended to serve as an incentive to continue to inspire young people about agriculture in the future.
Although the Corona pandemic brought challenges, particularly when it came to conducting trial internships and advertising at training fairs, the industry's goal remains clear: supporting the farmers of tomorrow in order to secure their future opportunities and make the farming profession attractive.
