The Amigos conquer the charts: Karl-Heinz 'emotional fresh start!

Deutschland - Karl-Heinz Ulrich vom Duo The Amigos in January 2024 lost his wife Doris († 71) after a long and difficult fight against breast cancer. This tragic loss led him to think about the end of his music career. "It was a very difficult time for me," explains Karl-Heinz, "but I knew that Doris had wanted to continue." As a result, he decided to continue the musical journey and to reach the 16th time in his career in the album charts.

The new album "Voices of the Night" is not only another success for the brothers, it is also a personal tribute to the deceased Doris. Karl-Heinz dedicates this number 1 to his wife and continues to feel connected to her through the music. The song "Strong for you" in particular is a way for him to deal with his pain. It is more than just a song; It is a musical love letter to Doris.

The return to the stage

Since April 2024, Karl-Heinz has been touring Germany with his brother Bernd. He emphasizes that music is not only his life, but also a way to be there for his fans. "Doris would have wanted that," he emphasizes, describing his situation as an emotional new beginning.

The history of the Amigos is drawn by numerous blows of fate. The Ulrich brothers founded the band in 1970, but the big breakthrough was a long time to wait until 2006 when they appeared at "Achim's Hitparade" and won the title "Musikantenkaiser". They had previously lived through difficult times, such as the exit of a bandmate in 1980 and the cancer death of their keyboardist Günther Zimmer in 1985. Witold Piwonski was won as a substitute member, but he also had a serious stroke of fate in 2000: a stroke after which he was in wax coma for eight years.

Despite these challenges, the brothers were repeatedly motivated by their fans to continue. "The music stops us. We process our experiences in our songs," explains Karl-Heinz. Even after Doris's death, music remains a central part of her life. Karl-Heinz and Bernd plan to continue producing music, not only for themselves, but also for their fans and in memory of Doris.

For the upcoming album, which is scheduled to appear in 2025, Bernd already announced another special song: "We never stop". This motto reflects the tireless spirit of the Amigos, which despite tragedies and losses want to believe in their passion and want to continue their musical journey.
