Emotional journey to Berlin: Oerlinghausen fans experience the cup final!

On May 25, 2025, Arminia Bielefeld experienced a memorable DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart in the heart of Berlin. Around 100,000 fans traveled to this emotional event, which was a very special highlight for many. The supporters from Oerlinghausen in particular were represented in large numbers. In the Schützenhalle, the Oerlinghausen fans celebrated at the public viewing and experienced the rollercoaster of emotions, which ranged from anticipation to disappointment.

Some of the loyal fans had already prepared early for the final and took part in a fan festival at Alexanderplatz. This event was conceived by Arminia's managing director, Christoph Wortmann, as a central location in Berlin that should also appeal to people who have previously had little contact with Arminia. As part of a diverse program organized with a Berlin agency, fans were able to enjoy talk formats and live music. The fan festival took place on Friday, May 23rd and Saturday, May 24th and was supposed to take place with final approvals from the security authorities.

Emotional moments in the Olympic Stadium

When they arrived at the Olympic Stadium, fans were faced with long waiting times at the entrance. Many of them didn't take their seats until kick-off. Despite the quick goals conceded, the atmosphere in the stadium remained passionate and euphoric. Arminia's two goals were celebrated frenetically, even though the cup was ultimately not won. Sören Grote, a long-time fan, said that taking part in the final was more important to him than winning the cup itself.

For Frank Dawitz, another fan from Oerlinghausen, this game represented a historic moment for the club. Jana Meyer brought pictures of her late friend to commemorate him on the stadium's memorial wall. In the Schützenhalle, 210 fans watched the game on screens and celebrated the emotions together.

A difficult but successful path

Despite the defeat in the cup final, Arminia Bielefeld can look back on a successful season. The club was able to celebrate promotion to the 2nd league and win the championship in the 3rd league. The day after the final, the players were ceremoniously welcomed to Bielefeld, which expressed the gratitude and pride of the supporters. The path that Arminia has taken is accompanied by the fans with great passion and dedication, despite the challenges that accompany them along the way.

The emotional finale will not be forgotten and there is already great anticipation for the next season. The strong community of fans that came together from Oerlinghausen and beyond shows how deep-rooted the support for Arminia is. At the heart of football, Arminia Bielefeld and its supporters have written an impressive history.
