Evi Dingebacher-Stehle: An unforgettable family holiday in the Zillertal!
Evi Dingebacher-Stehle, the former German biathlete and cross-country skier, is currently enjoying a vacation in the picturesque Zillertal with her family. June 9, 2025 is a special day for the athlete, who will spend it with her relatives in the mountains. On her Instagram profile she shares impressions and pictures of her exciting trip, which includes a visit to the impressive Krimml Waterfalls. Evi describes the entire trip as a “MISSION IMPOSSIBLE” as they experience numerous adventures with their children and the family dog Friedl.
In her articles, the mother gives valuable tips for visitors to the Zillertal and particularly recommends exploring the old Tauern Trail. Evi lives with her family in Fischen in the Allgäu and continues to be involved in charitable projects.
Sporting successes
Evi Dingebacher-Stehle's sporting career is particularly impressive. Born on November 27, 1980 in Traunstein, western Germany, her active career began in 1998 and ended after the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. During this time she made a name for herself not only in the cross-country skiing world, but also in biathlon.
For her achievements, Evi received a total of five medals at the Winter Olympics, including gold medals in the team sprint in 2010 and in the 4 × 5 km relay in 2002, as well as three silver medals. She also won several medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships: a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km relay in 2003 and four silver medals in various disciplines. Between 1998 and 2006 she also celebrated 14 individual victories at distances of up to 5 km.
Biathlon career and challenges
In 2012, she switched to biathlon after having motivation problems in cross-country skiing. Her first successful race in biathlon was a podium finish in an IBU Cup race in January 2013, and she achieved a notable best of 6th place in the 7.5 km sprint at the World Cup in Sochi in March 2013. At the 2014 Sochi Olympics, she placed fourth in the 12.5 km mass start.
Unfortunately, her career was not without setbacks. A positive doping test for methylhexanamine during the 2014 Olympics led to the cancellation of her results and the loss of her Olympic accreditation. After a two-year ban, which was later reduced to six months, she announced her retirement from the sport on a television program in November 2014. Evi has been married to the German ski racer Johannes Stehle since July 2005.
