Galactic sounds in the planetarium: Sound of the Universe” inspires!

On Saturday, July 5th, a very special live event will take place at the Bochum Planetarium: the concerts entitled “Sound of the Universe”. The two performances start at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The event combines astronomical research with musical performances and promises to be an impressive experience. bochum-tourismus.de reports on the special line-up that will characterize this evening.

The renowned Manganiyar Ensemble from Jaipur, India, was involved in the musical implementation and will take part via live connection. The Dresden Symphony Orchestra will also perform live in the Kuppelsaal and organize the event together with three astronomers from Bochum, Alexandria and Jaipur. Everyone involved brings their knowledge and creativity to take the audience into the fascinating topics of the universe. planetarium-bochum.de

Innovative concepts and exciting topics

The aim of the event is to captivate viewers with topics such as black holes and pulsars through three short contributions, each about five minutes long. The musical answers from the Manganiyar Ensemble and the Dresden Symphony Orchestra will initially be presented independently before a joint performance takes all guests into the sounds of space.

Special historical locations are integrated into the contributions: the Manganiyar Ensemble brings a connection to the Jantar Mantar, a monumental 18th-century observatory in Jaipur, while the astronomers from Alexandria point to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a symbol of ancient knowledge of the cosmos. These historical references underline the long history of astronomical research and present both scientific and cultural aspects to participants.

Entrance fees and ticket information

The ticket price for this extraordinary event is 20 euros, reduced price 17 euros. Tickets are available via the planetarium website and at the box office. The event, which lasts approximately 70 minutes, is part of the DIVE festival, which brings artists from various disciplines to Bochum.

The “Sound of the Universe” event not only honors the musical talent of the Dresden Symphony Orchestra and the Manganiyar, but also celebrates the hundred-year history of projection planetariums. This is a unique opportunity for anyone passionate about the wonderful sounds and mysticism of the universe.
