Juliane Werding: From the stage into private life – what is the pop star doing today?

Juliane Werding, who is known for her hit “On the day Conny Kramer died,” has largely withdrawn from the public eye since 2009. In a remarkable change from her previous life as a successful singer, she now lives in seclusion and devotes herself to her work as a naturopath in Starnberg. At 68, she is enjoying her life away from the spotlight, which comes as a surprise to many of her fans.

Werding, who began her music career seriously at the age of 14, sent a demo tape to the television show “Talentschuppen” and won the preliminary round. Her breakthrough came with the famous song about a friend's drug death, which stayed in the top 10 for 14 weeks and sold more than a million copies. In the following decades she celebrated numerous successes with records and also worked as a PR expert. Her decided career end came in 2009 when her website as an artist was taken offline and her healing practice was no longer represented online.

A new life as a therapist

After completing training as a naturopath, Juliane Werding opened her own practice in Munich before later moving to Starnberg. This decision marks a clear break from her active life as a musician, which she characterized with numerous hits such as “Come and help me through loneliness” and “Sun on the skin”. She also achieved international success in the 1980s before quitting music.

Her withdrawal is in contrast to previous years when she spoke openly about her private life. In response to a request from “Merkur.de” in March 2025, she announced that she no longer wanted to give interviews. This reply came with the signature “Your JW Team,” indicating that she is not seeking public contacts.

The desire of the fans

Despite her decision to step away from the spotlight, her fans want an update on her life and maybe even a new music project. In a Facebook fan group, old interviews and personal insights into her life are shared, which make many of her followers nostalgic. While Werding hasn't completely ruled out a return to music, for now she seems determined to enjoy the peace and quiet she's found in her new life.

With her remarkable career and her sudden retirement, Juliane Werding is a fascinating example of how artists can change their life path and take on new challenges.
