New cruise terminal in the Canary Islands: expect millions of passengers!

Las Palmas, Spanien - Mehmet Kutman, the chairman and CEO of the Global Ports Holding, took part in the opening ceremony of two new cruise terminals in Lanzarote. This significant inauguration was realized in cooperation with the local partner Sepcan and the port authority of Las Palmas. An additional cruise terminal was also inaugurated on Fuerteventura. The new facilities are intended to help the Canary Islands welcoming over one million cruise passengers every year.

Due to their mild climate, the Canary Islands are a popular destination for cruises, especially in the winter months, which makes them a preferred point of contact for travelers.Global Ports Holdingemphasizes that Las Palmas is not only considered an important cruise port, but also as a year -round travel destination. Located on the northeastern coast of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas is the largest city in the island with excellent international flight connections.

Attractions and infrastructure

Las Palmas not only offers sandy beaches and turquoise water, but also numerous cultural sights. The port itself has four berths with a total length of 1,615 meters and there is no limitation for the maximum dimensions of the ships that can create there. These factors make Las Palmas an attractive location for cruise ships from all over the world.

In 2022, Global Ports Holding was selected as a preferred partner for 40-year management of the Las Palmas Cruise Port. The plans for future investments in the port contain the construction of a new sustainable terminal. This project is intended to further improve the guest experience and create new opportunities for local actors, which should promote the region's economic growth.
