On August 13, 2025, Chiara-Lee Haartje will report on the exciting challenge from Radio Hamburg's NEXT MEGA-STAR, which is currently attracting a lot of attention. One of the TOP 3 candidates, Mirell, is currently on vacation in Malaga and has taken on a special challenge: she has to sing a song in public.
The challenge takes place in a busy location, such as a restaurant or on the promenade, to appeal to a wide audience. Mirell accepted the challenge straight away and a recording of her singing is featured, which is now available to all fans and supporters.
About the NEXT MEGA-STAR Challenge
Radio Hamburg is organizing the “RADIO HAMBURGS NEXT MEGA-STAR” initiative to promote musical talent from Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. Winning this challenge is a performance at the major concert event “Radio Hamburg Stars for Free”, which will take place on August 30, 2025 in the Barclays Arena.
Artists such as Michael Schulte, Nico Santos, Sophie and the Giants, LOI and Alle Farben will be on stage at this event. A total of around 12,000 fans are expected in the hall to experience the musical spectacle live.
Talented people aged 18 and over have the opportunity to apply online with a video. There was also an open casting day on July 23rd at the Funkhaus, Spitalerstraße 10, for those who would like to make a decision at short notice.
The path to the big performance
The Radio Hamburg jury first selects the best ten talents from the submissions. The listeners can then choose their top 3, which will then be rated by the artists at “Stars for Free” on August 15, 2025. This selection is followed by rehearsals and preparations for the big performance, where the winner will have 15 minutes on stage.
