Sunrise revolutionizes protection: cyber and travel insurance for customers!
On July 11, 2025, Sunrise introduced new insurance products for its existing customers. The highlight of this initiative is comprehensive cyber insurance, specifically designed to protect users against the growing threats of cybercrime. This insurance covers risks such as phishing, online fraud, identity theft and cyberbullying, which is particularly important in an increasingly digital world. In addition to cyber insurance, Sunrise also offers travel insurance that is tailored to the needs of travelers.
The new offers are created in collaboration with Toni Digital Insurance Solutions, TAS Insurance and Assista Legal Protection. This cooperation enables Sunrise to offer a wide range of protective measures, including both legal and psychological support in the event of damage. Cyber insurance costs 78 francs per year and applies to everyone in the same household. The offer is aimed exclusively at existing customers with a subscription and can easily be taken out via the Sunrise website.
Travel insurance details
Travel insurance offers comprehensive protection that covers cancellation costs, medical emergencies, lost luggage, rental car deductibles, roadside assistance and public transport cancellations. Those interested have the opportunity to adapt this insurance to their individual needs, with prices starting from 29 francs per month or 78 francs per year. Sunrise acts as an insurance broker, while inventory management and customer support are handled by Toni Digital Insurance Solutions.
Cyber insurance in context
Sunrise's launch of cyber insurance is part of a trend originally intended for small and medium-sized businesses. Now private users also benefit from these offers, which offer protection against damage caused by cybercrime. Typical challenges include cyberbullying, data and identity theft, for which the insurance provides extensive support. However, it should be noted that many common insurance contracts such as private liability insurance already partially cover cyber risks. In these cases, a separate cyber policy may not be necessary.
In addition, financial subsidies are offered for various cyber insurance claims, such as identity abuse or unlawful online shopping. However, the benefits vary greatly, so it is advisable to compare the offers thoroughly, as the insured amounts are limited in certain areas. Preventative measures – such as using virus scanners – are recommended to activate insurance coverage.
