Vacation in Turkey 2025: Expensive fun for families?

Holidays in Turkey are still very popular, especially among families. Many travel fans appreciate the country's tourist areas, which offer numerous sights and a wide selection of comfortable hotels as well as extensive dining options. But like the reports from derwesten.de and infranken.de show, the prices for holidays in Turkey are increasing, especially in the high season.

During the summer holidays, the costs of accommodation and food increased noticeably. Thomas Bösl, head of strategy at the Raiffeisen Touristik Group, explains that the price increases could affect people's booking behavior. Many travelers are now considering whether they can or want to afford a vacation in Turkey. This could lead to fewer people booking.

Price development in high season

According to current information, the price increase for hotels and restaurants in January 2025 was 42.4 percent compared to the previous year. Additionally, prices in the hospitality industry increased by 49.18 percent year-on-year. Such developments are leading Turkey to top the list of tourism inflation in Europe, Turkish daily Hürriyet reports.

Despite high inflation in Turkey, which reached a rate of 71.6 percent in June 2024, value for money remains a crucial factor for tourists. Although the cost of living in Turkey is lower compared to Germany, rising prices reduce the traditional price advantage.

Cost saving strategies

To combat rising prices, tour operators have started promoting alternative accommodation and savings offers. Suggestions for cost reduction, such as price-differentiated models such as “all inclusive light” or modular meal packages, are intended to help holidaymakers travel more cheaply. It is also recommended to compare prices from different providers to find the best deal.

The development of prices for holidays in Turkey remains exciting and is being closely monitored by travel fans and organizers alike. Given rising costs, booking behavior could change significantly in the coming years.
