Future of South Tyrolean tourism: Young hosts demand support!

On June 8, 2025, the annual general meeting of the Hoteliers and innkeepers youth (HGJ) took place in the Maretsch Castle in Bozen, an important event for the future of South Tyrolean tourism. At the meeting, topics such as looking back on the past year, the economic framework and the appreciation of the young generation in the hospitality industry focused on. HGJ chairman Daniel Schölzhorn called for more recognition and fair framework conditions for the young hosts, who are willing to take responsibility and to receive the quality of the South Tyrol tourism location.

The President of the Hotelier and Zauereverband (HGV), Manfred Pinzger, emphasized the economic and social importance of tourism. Governor Arno Kompscher criticized the negative public representations of the sector and emphasized its importance for the common good. Luis Walcher tourism council also emphasized the role of the HGJ as an important partner for the further development of young South Tyroleans and referred to the 2026 Winter Olympics as an opportunity for the country.

The HGJ has set itself the goal of promoting the exchange between young hoteliers and innkeepers. This initiative not only includes the discussion of joint concerns, but also exciting leisure activities. The organization offers hotel tours, teaching trips, conferences and numerous experts in order to strengthen the exchange of knowledge among the members. In addition, the #YoANZZET campaign informs young people from the 2nd and 3rd middle school about the possibilities in the hotel and hospitality industry.

The information provided on work areas and training channels in South Tyrol enable young people to get a well -founded insight into the industry. The HGJ wants to address particularly dynamic and active people and offer them a forum to actively participate in the design of their future in the hospitality industry.

After the meeting, a sociable get-together with a buffet took place, which was prepared by Anton Dalvai. In addition to the HGJ representatives, among those present were HGV board members and members of the state government who took the opportunity to exchange ideas about the current challenges and opportunities in tourism.
