Through Europe with the Lanz Bulldog: A road trip full of love and adventure!

On Friday, June 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the first episode of the film “The Leo, the Traudl & the Lanz – A Bulldog Road Movie” will be broadcast on BR television. The film documents the exciting journey of Leo Speer, also known as Lanz Leo, and his companion Traudl in a Lanz Bulldog tractor, built in 1938, with 45 hp. The journey takes the two of them from Mitterrohrbach to San Biagio near Modena, Italy and covers a total distance of 750 kilometers.

The journey, which takes place over 14 days, is completed at an average speed of 27 km/h. The route leads through picturesque landscapes in Lower Bavaria, Salzburg, past the Großglockner and over the Plöcken Pass to the lagoon city of Venice, where the couple will experience a gondola ride. Another highlight of the trip is the warm welcome at the classic car meeting in San Biagio and the opportunity to let Leo and Traudl's relationship blossom again. The two also have to overcome a number of challenges: the tractor urgently needs oil, the diesel is running out and in Italy many gas stations are closed due to a public holiday.

A look at the private museum

In Mitterrohrbach, Leo has an impressive private museum that includes more than 50 old Lanz tractors as well as threshing and steam engines. The passion for these vehicles and the traditions associated with them illustrate the special bond that Leo Speer has with his tractors.

Greetings from the mayor

In a greeting to the members and supporters of the municipality of Oyten, Mayor Sandra Röse emphasized the importance of professionalism in various areas such as event planning, press work as well as member maintenance and website presence. She underlines the stability and creativity of the members of the Lanz Bulldog Club and thanks them for their contribution to the community's reputation.

In her welcoming speech, Röse also addresses the challenges that the community faces, including due to digitalization, changing values and globalization. In accordance with the community's mission statement, which addresses issues such as the environment, sustainability and social structures, it reinforces the community's motto: “Oyten - live and more”.

The Lanz Bulldog Club is described as a community that offers orientation and joy for all age groups. Röse quotes the motto “Stay true to yourself, so you will make your way” from the Lanz story and wishes the members continued success and a shared and successful future.

The film is an absolute must for all tractor enthusiasts and friends of agriculture. The production by Maike Bandmann and Christoph Schuster, edited by Christine Schneider, shows not only the fascination for old tractors, but also the stories and emotions associated with them. Viewers can look forward to an entertaining and educational journey through the European landscapes that captures the special charm of Lanz tractors.
