1. Moke Lake Loop Track

The Moke Lake Loop Track is one of the most popular hiking trails on the lake. The route is quite flat and follows the scope of the lake over a total length of about 6 km.

The starting point for Moke Lake Track is located directly in front of the campsite, near the beach access on the bank.

2. Viewpoint on the slope

The Moke Lake viewpoint was my personal favorite hike in the area. The path is not marked, but obviously when you know where you have to search.

The path leads a steep hill up to a flat clearing for about 40 minutes, from which you have some of the best views on the Moke Lake.

I found the track by reading the excellent travel guide from Destinationless Travel, so go here for the directions and the location.

3. The moonlight lane

The longest hiking trail of Moke Lake New Zealand is the Moonlight Track. This path leads all the way past Ben Lomond Sattel to Arthur’s Point, near the Edith Cavell Bridge and the Shotover Jet.

This path is steep and much longer - a total of 4 hours of walking. In winter it can also be slippery and icy, so it is best to be prepared.

The Moonlight Trail from Moke Lake to Arthur’s Point begins above Moke Lake near Ben Lomond Station.
