Grand opening: New water and adventure world in the IGA Park Rostock!

On May 19, 2025, a new highlight will open in Rostock that will enrich the region on the Baltic Sea: the Supieria water and adventure world in the IGA Park. This innovative facility not only attracts visitors, but its concept has already caused a stir at the 23rd Rostock Marketing Tourism Breakfast. The potential of the new location, which is considered a central part of the city's tourism development, was presented here.

On Friday, the Supieria restaurant “Brise” celebrated its “pre-pre-pre-opening,” and the operators, Hans Jensen and Lars Pastoor from Never Stop Playing GmbH, gave an outlook on the upcoming offerings in the adventure world. These are intended to increase Rostock's attractiveness as a travel destination and encourage visitors to come back.

Expansion of the pier and new attractions

The Supieria water world is now expanding to include a pier that was previously renovated by Museumspark GmbH. This innovation not only brings with it a wave slide and two action slides, but also a restaurant, a kiosk and training facilities for water skiing and aqua park attractions, including water bouncy castles and wakefoil training. The offers are aimed at a broad audience and are primarily intended to attract athletes from outside, especially from Berlin, Hamburg and the Ruhr area.

The ideas for creating this world of experience come from a workshop on tourism concepts 2030+ that took place in 2018. The idea was implemented over a four-year planning and construction period, during which challenges such as increased construction costs and regulatory chaos also had to be overcome.

Sustainability in focus

Another focus is on sustainability. As part of this development, a total of 32 companies, including the water park and the Supieria team, have committed to reducing their environmental footprint. This was recognized as part of the TourCert program for sustainable tourism development. The new sustainability manager, Mila Zarkh, who has been in office since May 1, will also ensure that sustainable practices are implemented in all areas of the business.

Tourism director Matthias Fromm praises the new worlds of experience as important factors for tourism in Rostock. He emphasizes that tourism in Rostock is one of the largest economic sectors and at the same time must be made environmentally friendly. Numerous partners of the city have already received the “Sustainable Travel Destination” certificate and are thus contributing to the positive development of the region.

The official opening of the “Brise” restaurant is scheduled for May 25th, followed by the opening of the aqua park in June, where visitors can then try out the new slides. With these developments, Rostock wants to attract not only the local population, but also tourists who are looking for relaxation and active leisure activities.
