Trento and its hidden lakes: a paradise for nature lovers!

Trentino, a picturesque region in northern Italy, offers holidaymakers a variety of opportunities to relax in nature and enjoy the Mediterranean ambience of the cities. The city of Trento, less crowded than many other Italian destinations, delights travelers with its charming atmosphere and rich history. Founded by Celts and later conquered by Romans, the city presents itself as a cultural hotspot that boasts an ancient canal system and the impressive Castello del Buonconsiglio.

Luca Torta, who has been running a coffee house in Trento for 40 years, contributes to the country's typical quality of life and experiments with different types of coffee. This reflects many people's fascination with the city, which is famous not only for its sights but also for its culinary delights.

The lakes of Trentino

Trentino is home to over 300 lakes and is therefore often referred to as Little Finland. The lakes Lago Toblino and Lago Cavedine in the Valle dei Laghi particularly attract visitors. Lake Toblino is known for its romantic castle and lush Mediterranean vegetation, while Lake Cavedine is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, especially surfers.

Another notable lake is Lago di Lamar, which is surrounded by forests and serves as a bat sanctuary. Located higher up, Lake Molveno is not only characterized by its impressive altitude of over 800 meters, but has also been voted the most beautiful lake in Italy several times. Lago Levico is famous for its thermal baths and healing waters, while Lago Caldonazzo, as the largest bathing lake in Trentino, is an attraction for many with a pleasant water temperature of around 22 degrees Celsius (May to October). Lake Caldonazzo is also the only body of water in the region suitable for water skiing and offers a variety of activities such as fishing, sailing and diving.

Activities in Trentino

For those seeking adventure, there are numerous opportunities for sporting activities on Lake Caldonazzo. The traditional dragon boat race, the Palio de Draghi, takes place in August and attracts large numbers of visitors. The surrounding lakes, characterized by evergreen mountain ranges and picturesque villages, create a unique backdrop for a variety of activities, from hiking to relaxing days by the water.

The region is also easy to reach. Direct trains from Munich to Trento make visiting easy, and the nearest airports are in Verona, Bergamo, Bolzano and Venice. Accommodation prices start at 90 euros in three-star hotels and from 185 euros in four-star hotels.

The best time to go swimming in Trentino's clear lakes is from May to the end of September, making the region an ideal destination for a relaxing summer holiday. Trentino is not only a relaxing break in nature, but also a place full of history and lively culture.
