Waterfall Bay is a picturesque coastal bay on the Tasmanian peninsula on the east coast of Tasmania. The bay is famous for its weather -dependent waterfall, which pours the steep cliffs down into the sea.
While most of the year is rather a wet spot, the Waterfall Bay Walk is still an excellent walk, regardless of the water current. The route offers great views of the unique geological formations and arches, the remains of ancient sea caves.

Tasmanischer Arch
After you have parked your car in the large, designated parking lot, you will immediately notice the fenced -in viewpoint for the Tasman Arch.
This curved natural bridge is the result of a collapsed sea cave, which was placed in rubble and ash for years. We visited this beautiful place early in the morning, which meant that we got a beautiful sunbeam through the bow.

Patersons Arch
After only one Kilometer hike through a dry eucalyptus forest, you can reach another viewpoint for a collapsed sea cave. This is called Paterson's Arch and is not as famous as the others, but still a nice viewpoint.
If you look down, you will also find that the rocky base is very similar to the nearby tessellated pavement.

Viewpoint in the waterfall bay
hikers who continue from Paterson's vantage point reach the main event of this short, landscape, charming coastal hike. The Waterfall Bay viewpoint is a beautiful coastal bay. The gently curved green hills suddenly give way steep rock cliffs that dive into the deep blue ocean.
If you look directly at the cliff opposite, you will see the waterfall Waterfall Bay. This is a unique waterfall because it falls directly into the ocean. Unfortunately, the current is very rain -dependent. So if you come to visit in good conditions, you will probably only see a wet spot on the cliff.
There are also some information boards at the viewpoint that describe the history, geology and unique underwater biology of the region.
